About The TAP Foundation
The TAP Foundation was created as a result of the dream of Tyrone A. Parker, II, a young man filled with passion for drumming, recording and producing music.  His single mother struggled to provide him with the necessary materials, equipment and financial support needed to pursue his dream. The TAP Foundation is pleased to announce the inaugural fundraiser for the Dr. Leroy Barton, Jr. Memorial Scholarship for the Performing Arts.  Dr. Leroy Barton, Jr. was an educator, administrator, mentor to numerous students, and a prolific musician. He was a versatile soloist, ensemble member, clinician, and conductor who had a wide range of performing experiences. Dr. Barton served as a Professor at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC), until his passing in 2022.  He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.  Dr. Barton was an alumnus of Howard University, a life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Gamma Pi Chapter, and a Veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps and the Army National Guard.
